JammuTawi, September 24: A 30-year-old man sustained a gunshot injury to his leg following a dispute between two groups in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba district late Wednesday night. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
According to police, the incident took place around 11:45 pm near a tea stall in the Tarore area. Preliminary information suggests that an argument between two groups over an old dispute escalated into a clash. During the altercation, one person allegedly fired two to three rounds.
The firing left Vishal Singh alias Vissu, a resident of Rahya in Vijaypurinjured after a bullet hit his leg.
Following the incident, panic spread in the area. The injured man was rushed to AIIMS Vijaypur for treatment. Police officials said he sustained a gunshot injury to his leg and is undergoing treatment.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and initiated a preliminary investigation. A case has been registered at Bari Brahmana Police Station.
Officials said the exact circumstances that led to the firing, as well as the role of those involved, are being investigated. Efforts are also underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
Police are examining other aspects of the incident as part of the investigation. Further details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses.
