Jammu, September 24: Two students of MAM College were killed and another critically injured after the motorcycle they were travelling on was hit by a dumper in the Khairi area of Raipur-Bantalab on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Daksh Dhar and Tushar Singh, while their friend Harsh Rawal sustained serious injuries in the accident.
According to preliminary information, the three youths were riding a motorcycle when the accident occurred in the Khairi area. The motorcycle was reportedly hit by a dumper, leaving all three riders seriously injured.
On being informed, police and locals rushed the injured to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu. Doctors attending to the victims declared Daksh Dhar and Tushar Singh dead on arrival. Harsh Rawal was admitted to the hospital and is undergoing treatment. His condition was stated to be critical.
The three youths were reportedly aged between 18 and 20 years and were friends. The accident plunged their families into grief, with relatives rushing to the hospital after receiving the news.
Police have shifted the bodies to the GMC mortuary for post-mortem and other legal formalities. A case has been initiated and the circumstances leading to the accident are being investigated. Police are also examining the role of the dumper driver.
The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety in the area and left two families mourning the loss of their young sons.
