Youth Participation In Kashmir Marathon Is Investment In Shared Future: LG

SRINAGAR, Oct 1: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said unity and collective resolve were key to overcoming challenges, as he addressed the closing ceremony of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Kashmir Marathon–Run for Unity, which saw participation of more than 6,000 runners across different categories.

Congratulating the participants and commending the Jammu Kashmir Police for organising the event, Sinha said the marathon had emerged as a symbol of peace, unity and progress in the Union Territory.

He said the Run for Unity was not merely about speed or endurance but represented the strength of collective resolve and faith. “When people walk together, no destination remains impossible,” he said, stressing the importance of determination and unity in overcoming difficult challenges.

Highlighting India’s diversity, the Lieutenant Governor said differences in language, traditions, food and attire did not change the country’s shared identity. He said unity remained India’s strength and that collective effort could help overcome even major challenges.

Sinha said the participation of youth in the marathon was an investment in a shared future and praised them for conveying that no goal was too distant for a united India. He said the event reflected the aspirations of the new generation of Jammu Kashmir, which dreams of a better India and is working towards making the Union Territory self-reliant and developed.

The Lieutenant Governor also urged youth to embrace discipline, fitness and brotherhood and stay away from drugs. Recalling the 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Campaignhe called upon young people to become ambassadors of the Fit India Movement and contribute to nation-building.
