NEW DELHI, Sept 26: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma on Saturday called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed a range of issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir, including security, law and order, development and matters related to the ongoing Assembly session.
During the meeting, Sharma also raised the issue of enhancement of salaries of Special Police Officers (SPOs), which he said was at an advanced stage, and sought its early conclusion. Sharma had earlier said that a proposal for revision of SPO salaries was already with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He apprised the Home Minister of concerns being raised by people across Jammu and Kashmir and discussed matters requiring continued attention, coordination and support from the Union Government.
The interaction also covered strengthening security, accelerating development initiatives, public welfare and timely resolution of issues concerning the people of the Union Territory.
Shah, according to the statement, reiterated the Union Government’s commitment to peace, development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and assured continued support in addressing matters concerning the people.
Sharma expressed gratitude to the Home Minister for his guidance and support on issues related to security, development and welfare in Jammu and Kashmir. (Agencies)
