JAMMU Tawi, Oct 12: On the second day of Navratras dedicated to Maa Brahmacharini, the people of Jammu got a major gift as both tubes of the Satwari–Kunjwani flyover were opened for traffic today.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) opened the flyover stretch from Satwari near Last Morh for vehicular movement on Monday.

The second tube, running from Kunjwani to Satwari, was already operational for the commuters.

With the opening of both the tubes, the people expressed happiness and relief as this will go a long way in easing the traffic congestion in Jammu thus giving the much-needed relief to the people from the irritating traffic jams, which had become order of the day.

Constructed under the Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Expressway project, this Satwari–Kunjwani flyover will significantly improve traffic flow at the heavily congested Kunjwani and Satwari intersections.

It will also make travel much easier and smoother for motorists and commuters alike. Earlier, traveling from Satwari to Kunjwani via the service road took around 20 minutes. Now, with traffic starting on the flyover, this journey will take merely 5 minutes.

The opening brings major relief to commuters traveling between Kunjwani, Satwari, Last Morh, Gandhi Nagar, Bikram Chowk, and other areas of Jammu city.

Previously, high traffic on this busy route frequently caused traffic jams, causing much inconvenience to the people.

The flyover was constructed at a cost of around ₹280 crore. Designed as a four-lane structure, it aims to reduce traffic congestion on the main road and save valuable time for commuters, especially during peak rush hours.
