NIA Files 535-Page Chargesheet in Kishtwar Terror Attack Case; Arrested Accused, Three Killed JeM Terrorists Named

New Delhi, October 9 (TGE): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a 535-page chargesheet against an arrested accused and three killed Pakistani terrorists in connection with the February 22, 2026, terror attack in the Chatroo area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, alleging a cross-border conspiracy linked to the Pakistan-based leadership of the proscribed Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

The chargesheet was filed before the NIA Special Court in Jammu on October 9 against arrested accused Maneer Ahmed, son of Mohammad Yousuf Koli, a resident of Naidgam village in Chatroo tehsil of Kishtwar, and three killed Pakistani terrorists, including JeM commander Saifullah, also known as Saifullah Kashmiri, Atiq Nazir and Atiq Ur Rehman.

According to the NIA press release, the case relates to a terrorist attack reported on February 22, 2026, at Chatroo, Wani Mohalla, Passer Kote, in Kishtwar district. The case has been registered as RC-03/2026/NIA/JMU.

Accused Allegedly Provided Shelter to Terrorists

The 535-page chargesheet details the alleged conspiracy, the roles of the three killed terrorists and the supporting evidence collected during the investigation.

The NIA has accused Maneer Ahmed of voluntarily harbouring and concealing terrorists allegedly involved in attacks on security forces and civilians in the hilly district of Kishtwar. The agency has invoked relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, against him.

The chargesheet also invokes penal provisions against the deceased terrorists for allegedly waging war against India and conspiring to carry out terrorist activities from across the border.

Three Pakistani Terrorists Killed in Security Forces’ Action

According to the agency, the attack involved three terrorists led by Saifullah, described as a Pakistani national and commander of the proscribed JeM outfit. He was affiliated with the Kashmir Tigers, identified in the press release as the Azrael Group operating under the JeM umbrella.

The NIA stated that retaliatory fire by security forces resulted in the deaths of all three terrorists.

The agency further said the group had been active in the upper reaches of Kishtwar district and was allegedly involved in several attacks that resulted in the deaths of security personnel and local residents.

Investigators have alleged that Maneer Ahmed provided support to the group.

NIA Traces Conspiracy to Pakistan

The NIA said its investigation, spanning nearly five months, traced the conspiracy behind the case to Pakistan.Further investigation is continuing, the agency added.- (TGE)
