Jammu, October 9 (TGE): In a major administrative reshuffle, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the transfer and posting of 100 police officers, including IPS and JKPS officers, with immediate effect.
The transfers were ordered through Government Order No. 499-Home of 2026, issued by the Home Department on October 9, 2026, in the interest of administration. The order was issued by Chandraker Bharti, Financial Commissioner/Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, by order of the Lieutenant Governor.
Among the major changes, Danesh Rana, IPS, has been posted as Managing Director of the J&K Police Housing Corporation, relieving S.J.M. Gillani of the additional charge.
Garib Dass, IPS, has been posted as ADGP Homeguards, Civil Defence and SDRF against an available vacancy, while Dr. Mohd. Haseeb Mughal, IPS, has been appointed Director of the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur, replacing Garib Dass.
Abdul Jabbar, IPS, has been posted as Inspector General (IG) Armed Police, Jammu, while Shahid Mehraj Rather, IPS, has been appointed IG Technical Services, J&K. He will continue to hold the additional charge of Director Police Telecommunications, J&K, until further orders.
At the DIG level, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, IPS, has been posted as DIG CID Headquarters, J&K. Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, has been transferred as DIG Railways, while Swarn Singh Kotwal, IPS, has been posted as DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range.
Zahid Naseem Manhas, IPS, has been posted as DIG Armed Police, Jammu.
Several SSPs and Other Senior Officers Reassigned
The order also brings changes to several district and specialised police assignments.
Vaibhav Meena, IPS, has been posted as SSP Poonch, while Neha Jain, IPS, has been posted as SSP Sopore and Anna Sinha, IPS, as SSP Ramban.
Harshal Rajesh Mahajan, IPS, has been posted as SSP Ganderbal, while Sudhanshu Dhama, IPS, has been transferred as SSP Kupwara.
Other notable changes include the posting of Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, IPS, as Commandant of the 23rd JKAP IR; Mohd. Yaseen Kichloo, IPS, as Principal of STC Talwara; and Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, IPS, as Commandant of the 18th JKAP.
The order also assigns new responsibilities to several JKPS officers across districts, police headquarters, CID, security, traffic, railways and armed police units.
Ramban, Kishtwar and Other Areas Also See Changes
The reshuffle includes postings affecting Ramban, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Poonch, Udhampur and other areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Arun Gupta, JKPS, has been posted as SSP SS CID Headquarters, while Pardeep Singh has been transferred as Deputy Commandant of the 8th JKAP IR. Mohd. Shafiq has been posted as Additional SP Kishtwar.
Fahad Tak has been posted as Additional SP Baramulla and will also hold the additional charge of Additional SP Operations, Baramulla.
The order further includes changes in several commandant, deputy commandant, additional SP and headquarters assignments, with a number of officers posted against available vacancies.
The transfers and postings have been ordered with immediate effect. The detailed order lists 100 officers and specifies their new assignments across the Union Territory’s police establishment.- (TGE)
