One accused wanted in 13 FIRs; SOG Jammu conducts operation

Jammu Tawi, September 23: The Special Operations Group (SOG) Jammu has arrested three alleged members of the Khauf gang from Delhi as part of its ongoing crackdown on organised criminal activities.
Among those arrested is Karanjit Singh alias Gugga, a resident of Dablehar, R.S. Pura, who, according to police, was wanted in connection with 13 FIRs.
The arrests were disclosed during a press conference at DPL Jammu addressed by SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, SP Headquarters Anna Sinha and SOG officials.
SSP Jammu said Karanjit Singh, son of Arjun Singh, was arrested during an operation conducted by SOG Jammu in Delhi. Police said he is an accused in the Gataru murder case and is also facing cases relating to attempt to murder, assault, rioting, criminal intimidation and illegal possession of weapons.
According to police, Karanjit had earlier escaped from the R.S. Pura Observation Home along with two Pakistani detainees. During the escape, an incident involving assault and firing at police personnel deployed at the facility was reported. In this connection, FIR No. 39/2026 was registered at R.S. Pura Police Station.
Two Associates Also Arrested
During the same operation, SOG Jammu arrested two other alleged associates of the gang from Delhi.
Naresh Kumar alias Major, a resident of Arnia, was described by police as an associate of the gang. Police said he is facing cases related to violent assault, rioting and illegal possession of weapons. He was also described as a close associate of absconding accused Sunil Kumar alias Gokul.
The third accused, Rahul Kumar alias Sundi, a resident of Makhanpur, Bishnah, was also arrested. Police said his name had surfaced in a case concerning the alleged supply of narcotics inside a jail premises, in which provisions of the NDPS Act and Jail Act have been invoked.
Police officials said the arrests form part of an ongoing operation to apprehend absconding accused and investigate organised criminal networks. Further questioning of the arrested persons is underway, while additional arrests may follow depending on the findings of the investigation.
