LG calls J&K a blend of natural beauty, hospitality; CM highlights diverse tourism experiences
Srinagar, September 27: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday invited tourists from across the country and abroad to visit the Union Territory and experience its natural beauty, cultural heritage and hospitality on the occasion of World Tourism Day.
The Lieutenant Governor, in a message posted by his office on X, described Jammu and Kashmir as the “crown of India” and invited visitors to experience its scenic landscapes, cultural richness and warm hospitality.
“On World Tourism Day, Jammu Kashmir, the crown of India, welcomes you all. It offers a breathtaking and timeless experience enriched with warm hospitality. I invite everyone to come and experience the enchanting charm of Jammu Kashmir,” Sinha said.
Jammu and Kashmir offers a wide range of attractions, including mountains, lakes, valleys, meadows, forests and heritage sites, besides important religious and cultural destinations.
In a separate message posted on his official X handle, Abdullah described Jammu and Kashmir as an “immortal paradise”, offering diverse experiences ranging from adventure sports and leisure retreats to pilgrimage circuits, MICE facilities, wedding destinations, unexplored trekking routes and film locations.
“On World Tourism Day, the Chief Minister extended a warm invitation to travellers to experience the timeless beauty and unmatched hospitality of Jammu and Kashmir,” Abdullah said.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening tourism infrastructure and promoting sustainable eco-tourism, with local youth and the region’s rich cultural traditions remaining at the centre of the hospitality sector.
Abdullah also called upon people from across India and the world to visit Jammu and Kashmir and create cherished memories.
Tourism in the Union Territory caters to varied interests throughout the year, with destinations in both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions offering opportunities for scenic travel, pilgrimage, adventure activities and cultural exploration.
The World Tourism Day messages also underscored the importance of tourism in showcasing Jammu and Kashmir’s natural and cultural diversity to visitors from India and abroad.
The sector remains an important contributor to the region’s economy, supporting hospitality, transport, handicrafts, local businesses and other tourism-linked activities.
