JAMMU Tawi, Nov 05: The scrap worth over Rs one crore, including the old vehicles of Maharaja’s time, have gone mission for the Jammu region’s premier hospital, the Government Medical College and Hospital, and the most astonishing thing is that the hospital administration is still unaware about this loss of crores to the government.
The entire building of the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) and its adjoining structures in the GMC-Jammu were dismantled and have now been grounded by the government to create parking facility in the GMC premises.
However, the scrap iron, steel tiles and other material after dismantling went missing and the hospital administration has no clue as to where the scrap running over Rs 1crore went.
Apart from this, the 10 vehicles provided by the Maharaja Hari Singh and Ghulab Singh have also gone missing, the sources said, while adding that these vehicles have been sold along with the scrap and the GMC administration has no clue about this.
“Around 10-12 trucks loaded with scarp iron and other scrap after dismantling of the JKMSCL and its adjoining structures, including those of the old vehicles provided the Maharajas, left the GMC but there is no token and no receipt of any vehicle exiting the hospital with us,” a senior official looking after the finances of the GMC-Jammu informed the Northlines.
There is also no record as to where the scrap of over Rs 1 crore went as there is also no record with us regarding the amount earned from scrap as also where the 10-12 trucks carrying scrap left the GMC, the official said.
A senior official of the GMC-Jammu, while wishing anonymity, informed the Northlines that the hospital has no clue regarding the scrap.
