Omar Abdullah Holds Onto Ganderbal Seat but Steps Down from Bugam

National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah has successfully retained his Ganderbal parliamentary seat while resigning from the Budgam parliamentary segment. This decision follows his victories in both constituencies during the recent Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.

The announcement was made by interim Speaker Mubarak Gul during a swearing-in ceremony at the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Assembly, where 90 newly elected MLAs took their oaths. Omar Abdullah’s choice to step down from Budgam reflects his strategy and confidence in representing Ganderbal, a constituency that has historically been a stronghold for his family.
