JAMMU, Sept 22: A glass pane in the driver’s cabin of a Delhi-bound train broke mysteriously while the train was passing through Vijaypur in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, prompting a search along the railway track, officials said.
The incident occurred on Monday night when the train, which had departed from Jammu Tawi Railway Station for Delhi, was passing through the Vijaypur area. The glass reportedly broke after being struck by an object, following which the loco pilot lodged a complaint with the station master.
The train reached Samba railway station at around 9:10 pm, while senior police officers and personnel of the Government Railway Police conducted a joint search along the track to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Officials said a preliminary investigation has ruled out sabotage, while further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the damage.
A marriage function was reportedly taking place in an adjoining area around the time of the incident, though it remains unclear whether it had any connection with the breaking of the glass pane.
The train resumed its journey at around 9:30 pm after necessary repairs, officials said.
The incident triggered a security check along the railway track as authorities sought to establish whether the glass was damaged by a thrown object or due to some other cause. (Agencies)
