JAMMU Tawi, Oct 10: The healthcare in Jammu is at its worst since the last around two years as the CT Scan machines, one each in the Chest Diseases Hospital and in the high-tech Super Specialty Hospital, have been out of order thus creating problems for the sick patients admitted in both these hospitals.
The sick patients requiring CT Scan in emergency admitted in both these hospitals have to go on their own to get this scan done from the Government Medical College as there is no other option available to them due to non-functional CT Scan Machines.
In this regard, the GMC-Jammu Principal, Dr Ashutosh Gupta, when contacted, said that the process is on and the new CT Scan Machines will soon be installed in both these major hospitals of Jammu.
“The process for acquiring the new CT Scan Machines has been going on and the these will be installed in both CD Hospital and the Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) within a month or two,” the Principal informed the Northlines.
It may be mentioned here that the CD Hospital is 140 bedded, while the SSH is 220 bedded. The CD Hospital became functional in 1955. The 220 SSH became functional in May 2013 and was officially inaugurated in March 03 2014.
The CT Scan machine at CD Hospital has been lying non-functional since the last more than one year, while at the SSH it is out of order since the last more than2 years.
The irony of the situation is that the sick patients requiring CT Scan in emergency have to go to GMC on their own to get this Scan done.
In many cases, the patients are so sick that they are not able to walk but due to official apathy they have to be shifted to GMC by the attendants for getting the CT Scan done.
To add to the woes of the patients, the only lift at the CD Hospital of Jammu is also non-functional since the last more than 2 months thus making the sick patients to suffer more.
