SUNDERBANI, Apr 24: In a significant step towards promoting technological education and youth development, Kalidhar Memorial Army School (KMAS), Sunderbani inaugurated a state-of-the-art tech lab along with an NCC Motivational Hall on Friday, aiming to enhance practical learning and encourage student participation in national service initiatives.
As per the statement issued to The Grameen Express (TGE), the newly established tech lab is designed to introduce students to emerging technologies such as robotics, drones, and electronic circuits, fostering curiosity-driven, hands-on learning at the school level. The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s flagship programs like Vighyan Jyoti and I-STEM.
The tech lab has been named ‘VIPAS’—an acronym for Vidyarthi Pradyogiki Anusandhan Shrot, derived from Sanskrit, symbolizing “Seeing, Knowing and Discerning.” The concept reflects the spirit of technological exploration and enrichment, forming the core motto of this initiative.

Alongside the tech lab, an NCC Motivational Hall was also dedicated to the school to encourage participation of both boys and girls in the National Cadet Corps. The school has so far trained 95 NCC cadets, with the boys’ NCC wing having commenced in 2025.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mrs. Rupali Brar, Chairperson of the Family Welfare Organisation, Crossed Swords Division, who lauded the school’s efforts. She emphasized that educational institutions play a vital role in shaping character, building values, and preparing students for a brighter future.
On the occasion, it was also announced that the VIPAS initiative will be extended to remote and far-flung areas through a mobile vehicle-based tech lab, aimed at delivering digital literacy and technological exposure to students in border and underserved regions.
