JAMMU, Nov 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Government‘s Finance Department has shifted the One-Time Password (OTP) delivery system for the PROOF App from SMS to the Sandes App, directing all concerned officers and officials to install the new application to ensure uninterrupted access.
According to an official circular issued by the Finance Department, the earlier SMS-based OTP service for the PROOF App has been discontinued, causing difficulties for officers and officials in receiving authentication codes required to access the application.
To address the issue, the department has introduced an alternative mechanism under which OTPs will now be delivered through the Sandes app instead of SMS.
The circular directs all Administrative Departments to immediately inform the officers and officials concerned about the revised arrangement and advise them to install the Sandes App on their mobile devices for receiving OTPs required for authentication while accessing the PROOF App.
The department has further instructed that the directions be widely circulated among all officers and officials working under the administrative control of respective departments to ensure compliance.
The circular, issued with the approval of the competent authority, has been signed by Shailendra Kumar, IAS, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Finance Department, Jammu and Kashmir.
Copies of the circular have also been forwarded to all Administrative Secretaries and several senior constitutional, administrative and departmental authorities, including the Director General of Police, Divisional Commissioners, Heads of Departments, Treasury Officers, Financial Advisors and Chief Accounts Officers.
Under the revised procedure, officers and officials will have to install the Sandes App, receive OTPs through it and enter the authentication codes while accessing the PROOF App. The change makes Sandes the designated channel for OTP delivery in place of SMS.
