Jammu Tawi, September 30: A dangerous road stunt on Sidhra Bypass Road has triggered action from the Motor Vehicles Department after a video showing a woman lying on the bonnet of a moving car and performing a dance stunt surfaced on social media.
The video shows the woman lying on the bonnet of the vehicle while the car was being driven on the road. The dangerous act raised serious concerns over road safety and the potential risk to the woman, the vehicle occupants and other motorists travelling on the busy road.
Taking cognizance of the video, the Office of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Motor Vehicles Department, has suspended the Registration Certificate of vehicle No. JK11B8314 (LMV) with immediate effect, pending further proceedings under the applicable provisions of law.
According to the official order, the vehicle is registered in the name of Joni Kumar, son of Roshan Lal, resident of Rajiv Nagar, Jammu Central, Narwal, Jammu.
The department noted that the video, which surfaced on social media on August 28, 2026, showed a person performing a stunt on the bonnet of the vehicle. The act was described in the order as a serious violation of traffic rules and road-safety norms.
The department has also directed the concerned driver to submit his driving licence within seven days for examination and further necessary action.
Officials have warned that failure to comply with the order may invite further action under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and rules framed thereunder.
